Joined-up Thinking On Anaemia

Iron deficiency anaemia is very common in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and can seriously reduce people’s quality of life, but it’s often under-treated. We set up a joint working project between Pharmacosmos and the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) to look at a sample of patients across the country and find out more about routine clinical practice.

The partners share resources and skills and the project is the first to use the IBD Registry web tool to collect information for a study.

Pharmacosmos is committed to improving the lives of patients with iron deficiency anaemia. We’re incredibly proud to be working with the BSG and the IBD Registry to develop a better understanding of the real-life incidence of the condition in IBD. We hope that the results will lead to real patient benefits. Dovetail is an exemplary partner to the project, and the team’s competent project management and constant focus on bringing benefits to patients with iron deficiency anaemia have been instrumental in helping us climb a fair number of mountains.

What’s exciting is that by adding a small number of fields to the existing Registry dataset, we’re able to customise the web tool. This makes the IBD Registry a very nimble solution for capturing real-world data that will quickly have an impact on improving patient care.
